Gaming has undergone significant changes in the past 8-10 years. In the past, games were developed by people who were passionate about creating enjoyable products. However, nowadays, the focus seems to be on making money rather than delivering quality games. Most video game releases are plagued with issues, and the rush to release games annually (like Call of Duty) often results in underwhelming experiences. While it’s understandable to focus on profit, game developers have a responsibility to deliver enjoyable products.
Another aspect of modern gaming that I find frustrating is the trend towards over-casualization. Most games prioritize instant gratification over mastering a skill step-by-step. Even console games have aim assist features that make the gameplay significantly easier. Skillful techniques that require hours of practice are often removed in the next game update. There are some exceptions to this trend, like Elden Ring, but the industry as a whole seems to be moving towards easy and accessible games rather than challenging and rewarding ones.
